Friday Stream of Consciousness

I don’t watch American Idol. Well… I mostly don’t watch American Idol. I watch it during tryouts (if I happen to be home) because it makes me laugh but I heard today that Steven Tyler might be a possibility for a new judge… if that happens, I’m probably going to turn into an American Idol junkie. Have I ever told you how much I *heart* Steven Tyler and Aerosmith? I do, very much! When most of my friends went to college and started listening to U2, I went to college and started listening to Aerosmith. One of the things on my not yet officially started bucket list, is go see Aerosmith in concert. I’m hoping to take care of that one in the next year or so!

I finally finished editing all of the photos from my birthday New Orleans trip! It was a crazy fun time (with a Sting sighting!), and I’m looking forward to blogging about it! I’ll probably do a three part post over the weekend starting tonight, so stay tuned! It took forever because I was trying to edit other photos in between and I took around 500 total over the whole three days… a lot of those are gone now. Deleted. But I can’t wait to share  some of the better ones that made the cut from the French Quarter and Audubon Park!

I’ve been reading Donald Miller’s blog lately (I’m a fan of his books) and keep meaning to blog off of his blogs because they just make so much sense, but maybe I’ll just tell you to go and check his blog out for yourselves (although I probably will end up still referencing him from time to time). You can check him out here; and even if you don’t go and read them all, you should at least check out the insightful and deep blogs written through the eyes of his dog Lucy. They’re lovely…

I’m going to a Stampin’ Up party tomorrow which means I’m going to get in the crafty card making mood tomorrow evening but that’s ok, because it’ll give me something to write about on my blog and I’ve been in all kinds of blogging moods lately =o) Did you know, faithful blog readers, that I’ve had almost 1000 hits on this blog this month?? It’s CRAZY! And awesome, because like I’ve said before I *heart* blogging so it’s nice to know that there are people out there who like to read what I like to write and who like to look at photos that I enjoy taking =o) Maybe if I reach 1000 again in August I’ll do a giveaway of a 8x10 photo print or something similar… I’ll think about it. ;0)

Stay tuned… there are all kinds of possibilities!

Monday Morning Stream of Consciousness

I am so tired this morning blog friends… I would love nothing more than to curl up on my bed/couch/chair and go back to sleep for a few more hours. I turned 30 on Thursday and after a wonderfully full day, I left that night for a weekend in New Orleans and now I’m pooped. And I have so many things I need to catch up with on this blog! I have all kinds of photos edited from Memphis, Fall Creek Falls and RubyRed’s birthday and now I’m working of photos from New Orleans… I’m hoping to have them all caught up as quickly as I can; especially since it’s almost July! I’m trying very hard to be (at least) a Monday – Friday blogger. We’ll see how that goes. I know the only day I am always consistent on is Wednesday and I’m working on that =o)

This summer has been slammed packed with everything going on. And I’m only anticipating more to come. I can’t wait to take more photos of our little Community Garden, of how well its coming along and what kinds of goodies are growing. Speaking of growing I have to go and check on my little Mato and his brother (who I have kind of started calling Ted… we’ll see if it sticks). I wonder how they’re holding up after a weekend of me being gone…

4th of July is coming up and some little projects Ill share with you. I’m getting to go home to visit my family for my niece CG’s 5th birthday and I’m anticipating seeing some fantastic friends while I’m there… I’ve been a running slacker but this week I am going to remind myself about how much I started to enjoy it and how much it will help be keep to #7 and I’m going to push myself. Even if I end up walking most of this 5k, I want to do it. And then maybe I’ll run the next and then run more after that…

I’m dreaming of my next future vacation (sometime next year, I’m sure) and I think it needs to be to the beach off of an ocean… or maybe Canada…

Where do you dream of???

Stream of Consciousness

I learned why they tell you not to run two days in a row. I think I might have shin splints. They’re not too very bad, but if I don’t ice my shins at night they’re quite sore the next day after I run. I might just need to stretch better. Hmmm… even so I ran/walked on Tuesday and then again Wednesday and by the end of my cool down on Wednesday, my shins hurt like the dickens. What does that phrase mean? Do you think it has to do with Charles Dickens? Because I like his writing and I don’t think it’s hurtful…

Remember how I went to Memphis last year? I’m going back again this Saturday! Rachel and I are leaving tomorrow very early in the morning (4:30!!) with a stop in Jackson for breakfast. We’ll be going to the National Civil Rights Museum which is at the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King Jr. died. After that we’re going to lunch with her aunt and uncle and then we’ll mosey around for the afternoon (possibly the Pink Palace?) and possibly end the day with the Sunset Symphony and KC and the Sunshine Band! You see, it’s Memphis in May and there are all kinds of fun things going on. And, after all, that’s the way, uh huh uh huh, we like it… (I had to)

I looked up 'hurts like the dickens' online, ‘dickens’ was used by Shakespeare in the Merry Wives of Windsor possibly as a euphemism for devil. Good to know. Maybe my shins don’t hurt quite that bad.

I have a new favorite blog to stalk. I’ve known about it for a little while now, RubyRed introduced me to it. It’s called From Me to You. I love her style of photography and I’ve gotten a couple of recipes from her dinner and a movie blogs that I'd like to try… Her blog makes me wish I was a professional photographer who lived in a tiny apartment in New York near an outdoor market where I could buy fresh ingredients to cook every day. *sigh* I know I don’t really want to live in New York in a tiny apartment as a professional photographer, but I would LOVE to live near a daily open outdoor market where I could buy fresh ingredients to cook everyday instead of just near a farmers market open twice a week really early.

Speaking of outdoor markets; I do love it when I can make it (usually on Friday mornings) to our Farmers Market, but I’m even MORE excited that starting next Saturday (June 5th) the town I live in is starting back up with the Main Street Saturday Market!!! I don’t know if this is new, I don’t know if it’s a reoccurring yearly thing, but they’re going to be selling fresh breads, veggies, fruits and flowers and such… I can’t wait… and I can’t wait to bring my camera with me!!

I could probably keep going, but I won’t. I’ll just say have a good weekend, faithful blog readers! Its Memorial Day weekend and I fully intend to make the most of my three day weekend… I hope you do the same =o)
