Christmas Ornaments, Disco Balls & Giving Angels Wings

Is it a Disco Ball or a Christmas Ornament?
You decide...

My least favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful Life.
So sue me.
I watched it so many times growing up
I could probably quote the whole movie to you.
Thus the annoyance I have toward it.
But still, I like to joke that,
"Every time a bell rings and angel gets it's wings".
So we have little bells up all over our tree.

Of course it's more fun that we joke that by shaking them a lot,

There are a lot of akward looking angels flying around with multiple pairs of wings.

Look - that angel has 8 pairs!

It's that time of year again...

Yup... the time of year that commercialism... I mean the Lord's birth... gets celebrated. I know. I'm kind of a bah humbug scrooge this year.

But I'll save that for after I'm done Christmas shopping and can really react! haha

Until that happens... Check for updates to this blog probably daily. I may not be posting, but I will be updating a song/video/movie clip of the day!

I'll try not to repeat too many of last years... not that I remember last year's list that well!!!

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas season!!!

Arrington Vineyards

I went to Arrington Vineyards with Patty and John on Veterans Day (11/11/08). We had a great time =o)

There were so few people off work that we had the place almost to ourselves! Patty had to be on call, but happily she only had one call the whole time we were there. The Vineyard was hosting a party for winners of an event for the Country Music Awards which took place the next day, so we didn't get a tour, but the girl behind the bar for the wine tastings gave John the tour sheet so he was our mock tour guide. He even made up a story that turned out to be right! haha

It started out to be a slightly rainy morning, but eventually the sun broke through the clouds and made the weather very pleasant.

Here are some pictures from the day:

John was very excited about all the wine!

And some random small artsy ones that I really enjoyed taking...

Thanksgiving

It's recently been brought to my attention that I haven't been up to par with my blogging efforts. It's true. It's been over a month since my last post and I hope to rectify that soon. I need to update on things going on & pictures taken... but for today, I hope you appreciate my humble offering of a cartoon that I think is a perfect explanation as to why I get annoyed with Christmas things so very early in the season.

*stay tuned for future updates, hopefully this weekend...

Dew

Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew,
like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.

Random Thoughts: Part the Third

(It's a numbered list this time, for Brooklyncs)
1. It is September 15th, which means I have lived in Tennessee forexactly 4 years!
2. I have realized recently that if I start to get tired when I'mtalking on the phone, I start to sound like I'm from the south. My bestfriend thinks it's 'cute' which I think means 'funny'. I think thisgraph from 'indexed' says it all.
3. RubyRed numbed up from novocain sounds like she is either (a) drunk
or (b) on drugs of some sort. I find it very amusing.
4. Brooklyncs on Loritab is more amusing then RubyRed on Novocain... Iwish I had been there when she was cuddling her flip flops...
5. Ali-Gato's lemon squares rival those of Caribou Coffee.
6. I miss Caribou Coffee.
7. I think there should be a float hired specifically for Wilson County. It would just make things easier for all the rest of us.
8. I don't like floating as much as I used to.
9. Tennesseans need to have something to freak out about it. Snow in thewinter, gas prices during hurricane season, anything UT during football
season... you get my drift...
10. I bought a planner at Barnes and Noble the other day... but not theone I really wanted =o( But I was happy today when I found out there's asmall pocket in the back which will come in handy.
11. I'm going home in 10 days to surprise my mom for her birthday! It'svery exciting for me as I haven't seen my family since March!
12. On Saturday my car's rust spot went through all the way and I now amgoing to have to pay an auto body shop to fix it. I hope it doesn't costtoo much =o\
13. I'm starting a September - May Bible study tonight and am prayingthat God will give me the ability to stay disciplined for it. It's astruggle I often deal with.
14. I really want to lose weight in the most vain way. I know the Junewedding of my friends has nothing to do with me, but I want to look cutein the bridesmaid dress... I don't think that's too much to ask!
15. God has opened my eyes to a few things this weekend... big things...things I still don't entirely understand, but are already affecting theway I perceive things going on in my life.
16. I heard a sermon that now makes me ask myself "Do I reallyunderstand the Jesus died on the cross for me? Not just for people, butme??"
17. I am about to have 2 roommates... and they're fabulous people!!They're the two that are really fun when doped up on Loritab/Novocain...But let's hope they have no need to be on either again!
18. Due to moving, I am getting rid of excess things... even books... Inever thought I'd see the day that I would get rid of books. Of course, they're like Chicken Soup books... and stuff I got when I worked atFamily for free... Oh and the book from the annoying lady on the planethat time...

What a 'Good Morning' I Received!

I took this picture this morning when I was driving through a school zone at 15 mph. And before I get any comments from the peanut gallery. I more or less pointed my cell phone camera at my passenger window and clicked without looking.

I'm just that good.

Anyway, I was spending the morning worshiping along with Moody radio (91.7) and saw this sight and took this picture while the radio-person was talking about the steadfast love of Jesus. And this beauty of the sunrise made me think of how even on the rainy days He is present in my morning. Even when I'm grudgingly getting up in the morning to head to the slowest possible branch in Lebanon... He is here. He is with me when I'm frustrated and bored.

What a blessing to see His glory at 7:15 in the morning.

I went to Walgreens on lunch...

And found something that never should have happened...
we all remember a former Presidential nominee who fell off of the stage doing the Macarena? Well no worries, McCain, Clinton and Obama... These dolls will dance in your stead.

Did I mention they sing, too?

Just a note...

To all those who have, are, and will come see a teller in a drive-thru.

We are not animals in cages.

We are not fish in glass bowls.

Please do not knock on the glass to get my attention.

I promise I see you.

However, if this trend continues... I will put up a

"Please Do Not Tap The Glass"

sign.

Thank you

Tremble by Nichole Nordeman

Have I come too causually?
Because it seems to me
There's something I've neglected
How does one approach a Deity
with imformality
And still protect the Sacred?

'Cause you came and chose to wear the skin of all of us
And it's easy to forget You left a throne

And the line gets blurry all the time
Between daily and Divine
And it's hard to know the difference

CHORUS:
Oh, let me not forget to tremble
Oh, let me not forget to tremble
Face down on the ground do I dare
To take the liberty to stare at you
Oh, let me not,
Oh, let me not forget to tremble

What a shame to think that I'd appear
Even slightly cavalier
In the matter of salvation
Do I claim this gift You freely gave
As if it were mine to take
With such little hesitation?

'Cause you came and stood among the very least of us
And it's easy to forget you left a throne

CHORUS

The cradle of the grave could not contain
Your Divinity Neither can I oversimplify this love

Oh, let me not forget to tremble

Face down on the ground do I dare
To take the liberty to stare at you
Oh, let me
Oh, let me not forget to tremble

???

This sign is on Papa John's pool. It's supposed to mean "No Diving"

I've decided it means "If you dive, your head will detach from your body"

So don't dive in Papa John's pool.

My 28th...

For my birthday we went to Outback! It was so much fun!! Here are some random photos from the 'event'... hahaha
My coworker Katie was there with her family celebrating her birthday (it was the 23rd) so she came and said hi! I had her wear the traditional birthday tiara =o)

I stuck with the Atlantic Salmon...

Rachel and I went to the Gym yesterday

and I had this great realization. It was the last time I would see this

while setting up the elliptical... I know it's not shocking or anything, but it made me realize that from today on it'll say 28...
