How Lame Am I??

I really just posted up a new wordless Wednesday ost for tomorrow. If I didn't post right now, that would have been 3 wordless posts in a row!! What a faliure I would have been. I'm so sorry, my awesome blog readers... I will continue to try to do better.

I do hope you will like tomorrow's wordless. It's a picture I took with my cell phone and then made black and white and it looks o-so-pretty!! I took it near my friends house on this crazy dead end up a slightly steep hill (not so steep you were huffing and puffing, but still...). There are these hay fields and crazy weeds and this silly little black cat and grapevines and barbed wire fences all around you... you'll just have to look at my blog tomorrow to see which view I'm choosing to share.

Speaking of views, I went back to his house on Sunday with R-Jo to take pictures of the area and the community garden! I'm very excited and as soon as I can get some of the photos edited, Ill be sharing them with you, faithful readers, because you deserve to see them. You do. I mean it! Even when things in my life get rocky and I feel like a bum and I don't want to blog, you're still there. Checking to see if I actually posted something; and lately that's been a big ole nope.

So here's to you, blog friends, the few and hopeful. A post. haha... I obviously have tomorrow's all set to go, but I'm also working on telling you about a few new up-and-coming things that are happening in my life, so check back the rest of the week. I'm hopeful that you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Happy Birthday Theodore Giesel

Today would have been Theodore Giesel's 105th birthday! Why is this a big deal, you ask? It's such a big deal because Theodore Giesel is one of the reasons I love reading so much... one of my FAVORITE authors!

Probably one of yours, too...

You may know him better as Dr. Seuss. The goofy genius behind Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish; and my personal favorites The Lorax and The Sneetches.

I wrote a Seuss-like poem in honor of his day and thought I would share it with you.

Joy's Ode to Dr. Seuss Books

I could read them
In a chair
Or right next to
A big old bear

I could read them
near a tree
while listening to
a buzzing bee

I could read them
laying down
and on my face
never a frown

I could read them
in a zoo
next to a monkey
or striped kangaroo

I have put down
my ball and bat
and read tales of
a mischievous cat

fun stories filled
with turtles named yertle
and all about pockets
filled with wockets

of places you go
and things you'll see
and I'll never forget
that book about me

of Horton and who's
and lorax and sneetches
of sam I am's
and foxes in sockses

of all Dr. Seuss's
creative mind benders
and ram shackled thoughts
flim-foozeled with splendors

I'm thankful each day
since the time I could listen
for his brilliant prose
that make memories glisten

In honor of the man who made our childhoods so much fun, you can print pages and color them with some crayola crayons (another childhood favorite for me!)

Random Thoughts: Part the Third

(It's a numbered list this time, for Brooklyncs)
1. It is September 15th, which means I have lived in Tennessee forexactly 4 years!
2. I have realized recently that if I start to get tired when I'mtalking on the phone, I start to sound like I'm from the south. My bestfriend thinks it's 'cute' which I think means 'funny'. I think thisgraph from 'indexed' says it all.
3. RubyRed numbed up from novocain sounds like she is either (a) drunk
or (b) on drugs of some sort. I find it very amusing.
4. Brooklyncs on Loritab is more amusing then RubyRed on Novocain... Iwish I had been there when she was cuddling her flip flops...
5. Ali-Gato's lemon squares rival those of Caribou Coffee.
6. I miss Caribou Coffee.
7. I think there should be a float hired specifically for Wilson County. It would just make things easier for all the rest of us.
8. I don't like floating as much as I used to.
9. Tennesseans need to have something to freak out about it. Snow in thewinter, gas prices during hurricane season, anything UT during football
season... you get my drift...
10. I bought a planner at Barnes and Noble the other day... but not theone I really wanted =o( But I was happy today when I found out there's asmall pocket in the back which will come in handy.
11. I'm going home in 10 days to surprise my mom for her birthday! It'svery exciting for me as I haven't seen my family since March!
12. On Saturday my car's rust spot went through all the way and I now amgoing to have to pay an auto body shop to fix it. I hope it doesn't costtoo much =o\
13. I'm starting a September - May Bible study tonight and am prayingthat God will give me the ability to stay disciplined for it. It's astruggle I often deal with.
14. I really want to lose weight in the most vain way. I know the Junewedding of my friends has nothing to do with me, but I want to look cutein the bridesmaid dress... I don't think that's too much to ask!
15. God has opened my eyes to a few things this weekend... big things...things I still don't entirely understand, but are already affecting theway I perceive things going on in my life.
16. I heard a sermon that now makes me ask myself "Do I reallyunderstand the Jesus died on the cross for me? Not just for people, butme??"
17. I am about to have 2 roommates... and they're fabulous people!!They're the two that are really fun when doped up on Loritab/Novocain...But let's hope they have no need to be on either again!
18. Due to moving, I am getting rid of excess things... even books... Inever thought I'd see the day that I would get rid of books. Of course, they're like Chicken Soup books... and stuff I got when I worked atFamily for free... Oh and the book from the annoying lady on the planethat time...

The 12 Opossums

I got this silly forward today, and I just had to share! It 'supposedly' was originally from some lady in Oregon, but you never know with these things. No matter what, it made me chuckle and I wanted you all in blogland to get a good laugh, too =o)

The story is that the Oregon lady teaches the kids in church and at the end of the year has them write about what they learned. It started as the whole Bible, but I edited it for the funniest parts (trust me, it was longer!)

Here Goes
_____________

Adam and Eve had a son, Cain, who hated his brother as long as he was Abel. Pretty soon all the early people died off, except for Methuselah, who lived to be like a million or something. One of the important people was Noah, who was a good guy, but one of his kids was kind of a ham. Noah built a large boat and put his family and some animals on it. He asked some other people to join him, but they said they would have to take a rain check.

After Noah came Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was more famous than his brother, Esau, because Esau sold Jacob his birthmark in exchange for some pot roast. Jacob had a son named Joseph who wore a really loud sports coat.

Another important Bible guy in Moses, whose real name was Charlton Heston. Moses led the Israel Lights out of Egypt and away from the evil Pharaoh after God sent ten plagues on Pharaoh's people. These plagues included frogs, mice, lice, bowels, and no cable. God fed the Israel Lights every day with manicotti. Then He gave them His top ten commandments. These include don't lie, cheat, smoke, dance, or covet your neighbor's bottom (the Bible uses a bad word for bottom that I'm not supposed to say. Buy my Dad uses it sometimes when he talks about the President). Oh, yeah, I just thought of one more: Humor thy father and mother.

One of Moses' best helpers was Joshua, who was the first Bible guy to use spies. Joshua fought the battle of Geritol and the fence fell over on the town. After Joshua came David. He got to be king by killing a giant with a slingshot. He had a son named Solomon who had about 300 wives and 500 porcupines. My teacher says he was wise, but that doesn't sound very wise to me.

After the Old Testament came the New Testament. Jesus is the star of the New Testament. He was born in Bethlehem in a barn. (I wish I had been born in a barn, too, because my mom is always saying to me, 'Close the door! Were you born in a barn?' It would be nice to say, 'As a matter of fact, I was.')

During His life, Jesus had many arguments with sinners like the Pharisees and the Republicans. Jesus also had twelve opossums. The worst was Judas Asparagus. Judas was so evil that they named a terrible vegetable after him.

Random Thoughts 2: Silliness

Funny Quote of the Day from GMail:

Chevy Chase: "Parrots make great pets. They have more personality than goldfish."

Random Thoughts (by MJ)

So, there are some things I've been thinking about lately.

1. I'm probably not going to do the 3-Day walk for breast cancer. You have to raise $2,200.00 per person to do it, and it just intimidates me too much. Maybe sometime in the future, but not this year.

2. I'm still working out a good budget. Patty C gave me a great budgeting program for my computer when she fixed my laptop and I'm still working things out, but I think it'll be good.

3. Once I work out my budget, I'm gong to see where I can cut some things out. About $35 worth of cutting out. I think I want to join the MAC again. I really liked working out there, and I really want to go back. (It will mean giving up going out to eat pretty much permanently...)

4. ¿Donde esta mi reembolso? I'm getting my tax refund back tomorrow!!! I just did them on Saturday... I think this is the fastest I've seen the government work! SWEET =0)

5. This election year is really intriguing to me... I'm enjoying watching/reading news on all of the primaries and debates going on in the country. I think... no... I know this election year is huge. It is the determination on the future of the USA.
