Stream of Consciousness

I learned why they tell you not to run two days in a row. I think I might have shin splints. They’re not too very bad, but if I don’t ice my shins at night they’re quite sore the next day after I run. I might just need to stretch better. Hmmm… even so I ran/walked on Tuesday and then again Wednesday and by the end of my cool down on Wednesday, my shins hurt like the dickens. What does that phrase mean? Do you think it has to do with Charles Dickens? Because I like his writing and I don’t think it’s hurtful…

Remember how I went to Memphis last year? I’m going back again this Saturday! Rachel and I are leaving tomorrow very early in the morning (4:30!!) with a stop in Jackson for breakfast. We’ll be going to the National Civil Rights Museum which is at the Lorraine Hotel where Martin Luther King Jr. died. After that we’re going to lunch with her aunt and uncle and then we’ll mosey around for the afternoon (possibly the Pink Palace?) and possibly end the day with the Sunset Symphony and KC and the Sunshine Band! You see, it’s Memphis in May and there are all kinds of fun things going on. And, after all, that’s the way, uh huh uh huh, we like it… (I had to)

I looked up 'hurts like the dickens' online, ‘dickens’ was used by Shakespeare in the Merry Wives of Windsor possibly as a euphemism for devil. Good to know. Maybe my shins don’t hurt quite that bad.

I have a new favorite blog to stalk. I’ve known about it for a little while now, RubyRed introduced me to it. It’s called From Me to You. I love her style of photography and I’ve gotten a couple of recipes from her dinner and a movie blogs that I'd like to try… Her blog makes me wish I was a professional photographer who lived in a tiny apartment in New York near an outdoor market where I could buy fresh ingredients to cook every day. *sigh* I know I don’t really want to live in New York in a tiny apartment as a professional photographer, but I would LOVE to live near a daily open outdoor market where I could buy fresh ingredients to cook everyday instead of just near a farmers market open twice a week really early.

Speaking of outdoor markets; I do love it when I can make it (usually on Friday mornings) to our Farmers Market, but I’m even MORE excited that starting next Saturday (June 5th) the town I live in is starting back up with the Main Street Saturday Market!!! I don’t know if this is new, I don’t know if it’s a reoccurring yearly thing, but they’re going to be selling fresh breads, veggies, fruits and flowers and such… I can’t wait… and I can’t wait to bring my camera with me!!

I could probably keep going, but I won’t. I’ll just say have a good weekend, faithful blog readers! Its Memorial Day weekend and I fully intend to make the most of my three day weekend… I hope you do the same =o)

Running

I've said it before. Probably dozens of times.

I want to start running.

But this time, its different. I'm being proactive. I joined a 5k training program with Fleet Feet, a locally owned chain store in town. It's kind of like a couch to 5k training thing where they start you out slowly and build your endurance so you can run longer and better. And they teach you all kinds of things like proper form and gear and nutrition so you are able to stay healthy and un-injured while you're doing this running.

Training started Saturday. Tuesday was day number two. and normally today would be day number three, but sisnce I'm going to Memphis on Saturday (yay!) day number three was yesterday and my Saturday group run will be on Friday evening instead.

Pray for me.

I might be crazy.

How Lame Am I??

I really just posted up a new wordless Wednesday ost for tomorrow. If I didn't post right now, that would have been 3 wordless posts in a row!! What a faliure I would have been. I'm so sorry, my awesome blog readers... I will continue to try to do better.

I do hope you will like tomorrow's wordless. It's a picture I took with my cell phone and then made black and white and it looks o-so-pretty!! I took it near my friends house on this crazy dead end up a slightly steep hill (not so steep you were huffing and puffing, but still...). There are these hay fields and crazy weeds and this silly little black cat and grapevines and barbed wire fences all around you... you'll just have to look at my blog tomorrow to see which view I'm choosing to share.

Speaking of views, I went back to his house on Sunday with R-Jo to take pictures of the area and the community garden! I'm very excited and as soon as I can get some of the photos edited, Ill be sharing them with you, faithful readers, because you deserve to see them. You do. I mean it! Even when things in my life get rocky and I feel like a bum and I don't want to blog, you're still there. Checking to see if I actually posted something; and lately that's been a big ole nope.

So here's to you, blog friends, the few and hopeful. A post. haha... I obviously have tomorrow's all set to go, but I'm also working on telling you about a few new up-and-coming things that are happening in my life, so check back the rest of the week. I'm hopeful that you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Meet Mato

That’s pronounced May-doe. Like tomato without the ‘to’ (and yes, I do realize that I accidentally just quoted Mater from Cars).

I name things… inanimate objects, plants, things in my life. They have names. And I realized that I should think about introducing you to them. Do you want to meet them? I’ll start with the newest addition to my life.

This is Mato. He is a cherry tomato plant! I got him from my coworker Barb (who loves that I name things!)… I think she has a greenhouse and she gives away some tomato plants every year. This year I got one!! It’s new for me… planting things, and I’m going to plant more things in a community garden that my friends and I are having at my friend Mike’s house… but that’s a whole other post. For now, back to Mato…

He’s pretty, isn’t he?

He has strong roots and a good stem. And a very nice pot that I got at Kroger!

I can't wait until these little flowers turn into little tomatoes!

I’ll need to get a cage or a stake to help him grow big and tall and strong, but for now, He’s free =o) and enjoying living in my backyard where he is half shaded and half sunned!

**update: Mato and I just got 2 new additions to the tomato family! I'll introduce you to them as I get photos!**

Stay tuned for the next few weeks as I introduce you to more ‘friends’!

#60. Go to the Aquarium in Chattanooga

I went!! And it was better than I thought it would be! The funny thing is, I put going to the Aquarium on my list knowing that I’m not generally that excited about going to them. And there’s no way I thought it would top the Aquarium in Gatlinburg (which is AMAZING). So, I set myself up for a bit of a disappointment and was very happily surprised when I really enjoyed it… and enjoyed it enough to really want to go back sometime (maybe to help R-Jo steal a penguin!). Needless to say, I brought my camera, so naturally, I’m going to share some photos with you!

(I'm just a fan of how these turned out!)

*hums JAWS theme while simultaneously singing Barracuda by Heart*

Butterfly Gardens are one of my favorite things.

R-Jo wants to steal one *sshhhhh....*

My FAVORITE thing to photograph!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jellyfish. They always look like they're doing some form of modern dance in the water. It makes my heart happy.
