Monday Morning Stream of Consciousness

I am so tired this morning blog friends… I would love nothing more than to curl up on my bed/couch/chair and go back to sleep for a few more hours. I turned 30 on Thursday and after a wonderfully full day, I left that night for a weekend in New Orleans and now I’m pooped. And I have so many things I need to catch up with on this blog! I have all kinds of photos edited from Memphis, Fall Creek Falls and RubyRed’s birthday and now I’m working of photos from New Orleans… I’m hoping to have them all caught up as quickly as I can; especially since it’s almost July! I’m trying very hard to be (at least) a Monday – Friday blogger. We’ll see how that goes. I know the only day I am always consistent on is Wednesday and I’m working on that =o)

This summer has been slammed packed with everything going on. And I’m only anticipating more to come. I can’t wait to take more photos of our little Community Garden, of how well its coming along and what kinds of goodies are growing. Speaking of growing I have to go and check on my little Mato and his brother (who I have kind of started calling Ted… we’ll see if it sticks). I wonder how they’re holding up after a weekend of me being gone…

4th of July is coming up and some little projects Ill share with you. I’m getting to go home to visit my family for my niece CG’s 5th birthday and I’m anticipating seeing some fantastic friends while I’m there… I’ve been a running slacker but this week I am going to remind myself about how much I started to enjoy it and how much it will help be keep to #7 and I’m going to push myself. Even if I end up walking most of this 5k, I want to do it. And then maybe I’ll run the next and then run more after that…

I’m dreaming of my next future vacation (sometime next year, I’m sure) and I think it needs to be to the beach off of an ocean… or maybe Canada

Where do you dream of???

Walking Around

Tuesday, I didn't tell you everything (of course I normally do… why would you think otherwise *ahem*) =o)

After taking photos of the community garden, I took a walk up and down hills and around some bends with Rachel and got some very fun photos of the countryside… I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the walk!

CG

Mike teaches our Life Group (Sunday School) class. The singles group. It's a great time and he's good at it. I highly recommend that you go over and check out his blog sometime.

But that's not what this post is about… although, in its own way, it does have something to do with singleness. You see, we had talked about it, and I'm not sure who started the topic, but Mike offered up some of his property to become home to our little Community Garden.
And really, he does most of the work… and Jackie… and really most of the group of us that are involved… except for me.
So far I've taken photos, tried to find a rhubarb plant, and promised to help with canning, and pickle making and any other possible baking or cooking that may come up. Seriously, does anyone know where I can find a rhubarb plant in TN?? I'm going to google it…

But the awesome folks involved… they planted all kinds of yummy goodness!
I did sample a bit while I was there, and I look forward to doing more in the future… and taking more photos, finding a rhubarb plant, making pickles, baking and cooking…

#51

51. Find a CD that I love and actually buy the disc, not just the iTunes copy.

I blogged about Addison Road’s song ‘What Do I know of Holy’ last September. About how much I loved the lyrics… So this weekend, when I was at Hastings, I decided to go ahead and buy the CD. Addison Road’s self titled first album!

I’m enjoying it quite a bit, and I think I might just go ahead and buy their second album Stories, which will be released tomorrow!

Don’t worry, I won’t go too crazy with this CD buying thing… HA!

The Beginning of #99

99. Buy a cheap but awesome piece of wooden furniture and refinish it.

Meet the new coffee table.

Nope, it doesn't have a name... Rachel picked it up for me at a yardsale this morning for $5!!! I had seen it on my way to work yesterday and I just thought it was awesome and in very good shape, there are some black painted looking spots and a few scratches... I think it will be very fun to refinish!! Not too shabby, just loved.

First Fruits

Mato gave me my first little harvest Wednesday! These three juicy delicious tomatoes we just sitting there waiting to be plucked, so I plucked them!

I know the were juicy and delicious, because shortly after I took this picture, there were only two tomatoes left sitting on my counter top...

Switching a Number

On my list of 101 in 1001, number 100 is: Watch all of the LOST season’s in order after they’re all out on DVD.

I’m not doing it. I’m replacing #100!! You see, I put watching LOST on my list because I usually love JJ Abrams TV shows and movies and such; however, I can’t stand his cliff hanger season finales that make you wait 9 months to see how they turn out! I suffered through it once with ALIAS, but I just couldn’t bring myself to suffer through it again. So I chose to abstain from watching LOST. Even though several of my friends watching it regularly and I occasionally ended up sitting with a roommate or two while they caught up on episodes, I just never let myself get too caught up in it.

And now I’m glad I didn’t. I know everyone is torn as to whether the series finale was good or bad, but most people that I know (who have similar taste to me) were just annoyed by the ending. His not tying up endings and ‘leaving it like life’ so not everything has an answer. My theory is that if people wanted things to be like real life, they wouldn’t watch a TV show, they’d just go out and live. And where In the world is there a random smoke monster?

I just don’t get it. And now I never will! After a couple of weeks of hemming and hawing, I am changing #100 from watch all of the LOST season’s in order after they’re all out on DVD to something else entirely. Are you ready for the unveiling of the new 100????

*imaginary drum roll please*

100. Go to a Civil War Re-enactment

I’m oddly excited about this… Rachel’s brother does re-enactments (as a Yankee… haha!) and I’ve found out that there is one not too very far from where I live… So here’s to the Civil War re-enactors of the world… I look forward to seeing some of you in action very soon =o)

My heartstrings didn’t go “zing zing zing”…

But we did ride around on the trolley for a little trip while we were in Memphis. I’m still working on editing photos (from the community garden AND Memphis!), but until I can get them up here, enjoy this little preview…
