Turkey and Swiss Stromboli

Yesterday I made homemade soup. Tomato soup, to be exact...

It was delicious and you should try it sometime! You can find the recipe here on I Am Mommy. Today to go with it, I made a stromboli with cajun turkey and swiss cheese...
I added some mustard and green onions, and it was quite probably one of the best sandwiches I've had. I really think the only thing it could have used was some romaine lettuce! Nice thick stalks of lettuce would have added a tasty crunch! You can't see the green onions in any of these photos, but trust me, they were there... It added a nice flavor that combined so well with the cajun flavor of the turkey and the light tang of the swiss. I started with this ham and swiss recipe from allrecipes.com and then modified it to my own tastes.
Paired with yesterday's soup, and a few pickles (because lets face it, what's a deli-style sandwich without pickles?) it was a great dinner. And the best part? Plenty of leftovers to cover dinner for the rest of the week!
I hope you try one for yourself sometime! If you're really clever, you can find a way to invite yourself over for dinner ;o)

It Gives Me Chills...

If you’re in Christ, he’s given you a new name (Rev. 2:17), a name you’ve never heard and that wouldn’t make sense to you right now. It would be like yelling “Timothy Moore” in the halls of an orphanage when he was an infant. But you’ll get used to it. Other re-names, like Israel and Abraham and Peter and Paul didn’t make sense either, at first.

More important than your name, however, is hearing it called out by One you’ve come to know, or rather who has come to know you. When you see him for the first time face-to-face, when your legal adoption is fully realized, the Spirit within you will cry out, “Abba! Father!” And you’ll hear another voice, louder than all the others, cry the same thing. You’ll turn to see him, the Messiah of Israel, the Emperor of the universe, Jesus of Nazareth. And you’ll call him “brother.”

#39 Go to a Cubs Game

In August, yes August, I got to go to a Cubs game with my friend Johnny and my new friend Cole (who I'm pretty sure I'd met before, but it had been years)! It was Johnny's birthday and I tagged along kind of last minute and no, the cubs didn't win, but it was AWESOME! Here are some memory photos... enjoy =o)

The Weekend

The weekend, for me, starts at 7pm. I fully intend to spend tonight and all day tomorrow at my house. Since I had a showing for the house where I live earlier this week, my house is clean. I did laundry last night. I do have to do a couple of tidying things, but otherwise I pland to spend my time doing something I truly love doing.

Crafts.

Almost a year ago, I co-hosted a crafting party where I live and it was extremely fun! And while I won't have a dozen friends over to craft with me, I do enjoy allowing the creative person in me to flow.

& then Sunday? Sunday I'll watch the Superbowl!

Who are you rooting for, blog friends?

Sapphires & Faded Jeans

A friend of mine is working on an art project. Photos of people with lyrics that describe them… for me, she chose lyrics to Put Your Record On by Corinne Bailey Rae.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song
You go ahead, let your hair down
Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams
Just go ahead, let your hair down

I love it! And I think she’s right, although I never thought about it before… take that for what you will and how you would define the lyrics and apply them to me.

I spent last week baking and decorating cookies, and then setting up for a reception for the wedding celebration of some dear friends. It was fun, it was crazy, I was a dictator (self proclaimed) but it was lovely. All of it. From the ceremony to the fellowship afterwards. Oh, and the cookies I showed you my rough sketching for? They turned out pretty good, dontcha think?

After all was said and done, I used Sunday afternoon and evening to relax and edit some photos from last August! I was having so much fun taking photos for friends and editing them, that my own photos somehow got neglected. So, time to rectify that! I’m going to try to spend much of February editing photos of mine from last July through Christmas. It’s daunting, but I need to do it! And I need to show you photos from things crossed off The List that are somewhere mixed in between all while blogging and keeping you all up to date on my life, of course! =o)

How are you, blog friends? Are you stunned to believe that its already February? January 1st seems like yesterday, not last month…

And for those of you in Chicago… send me some photos of the real blizzard! Tennessee has nothing on you!
