Happy 4th of July

I remember when I was a kid (I love these posts, don't you??). I remember every 4th of July since I can remember (until I moved away), waking up and going into my parents room. They kept our flag under their bed. It was in a long box with the 2 piece flag pole and the top was a gold American Eagle. I used to get it out and bring the box downstairs. Then I would help my dad put it together; at least until I could do it on my own, and I would hold the flag as high as I could to keep it from touching the ground. Then my dad and I would go outside and he would stand on a stool or chair and put the flag pole in its holder and tie it in really well. I remember feeling really proud the first time I was tall enough to put the flag up with my dad's help... That's the 4th of July to me. It's remembering. Remembering those who served and are serving, remembering our forefathers and all that they did to make us free, and remembering my family. The pride instilled in me to respect our flag and all of the things our country has gone through with it still flying.

I hope you all have a wonderful, memory filled, Independence Day...

Walking Around

Tuesday, I didn't tell you everything (of course I normally do… why would you think otherwise *ahem*) =o)

After taking photos of the community garden, I took a walk up and down hills and around some bends with Rachel and got some very fun photos of the countryside… I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed the walk!

CG

Mike teaches our Life Group (Sunday School) class. The singles group. It's a great time and he's good at it. I highly recommend that you go over and check out his blog sometime.

But that's not what this post is about… although, in its own way, it does have something to do with singleness. You see, we had talked about it, and I'm not sure who started the topic, but Mike offered up some of his property to become home to our little Community Garden.
And really, he does most of the work… and Jackie… and really most of the group of us that are involved… except for me.
So far I've taken photos, tried to find a rhubarb plant, and promised to help with canning, and pickle making and any other possible baking or cooking that may come up. Seriously, does anyone know where I can find a rhubarb plant in TN?? I'm going to google it…

But the awesome folks involved… they planted all kinds of yummy goodness!
I did sample a bit while I was there, and I look forward to doing more in the future… and taking more photos, finding a rhubarb plant, making pickles, baking and cooking…

#60. Go to the Aquarium in Chattanooga

I went!! And it was better than I thought it would be! The funny thing is, I put going to the Aquarium on my list knowing that I’m not generally that excited about going to them. And there’s no way I thought it would top the Aquarium in Gatlinburg (which is AMAZING). So, I set myself up for a bit of a disappointment and was very happily surprised when I really enjoyed it… and enjoyed it enough to really want to go back sometime (maybe to help R-Jo steal a penguin!). Needless to say, I brought my camera, so naturally, I’m going to share some photos with you!

(I'm just a fan of how these turned out!)

*hums JAWS theme while simultaneously singing Barracuda by Heart*

Butterfly Gardens are one of my favorite things.

R-Jo wants to steal one *sshhhhh....*

My FAVORITE thing to photograph!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jellyfish. They always look like they're doing some form of modern dance in the water. It makes my heart happy.

Hello April!!

I totally failed finishing out my March crafting month blogs. I was in training at work for the last three days of the month and I was so exhausted by the time I got home I just didn't feel like blogging.

However, since I was training in Nashville, I met my (former) roommate A, who now lives in Nashville with her hubby D, twice! Once we had lunch together in her company's cafeteria (where I snapped this photo)…

…and a second time to indulge my craft and love of photography! I haven't uploaded let alone edited my pictures yet, but here are a few I snapped with my phone!

Scenes of a Snowy Day

I was in Elmhurst spending a day with various friends when it started snowing.

And not just snowing, but snowing these HUGE flakes!

It was as if when the snow fell, it collected with other flakes so they could all drop together.

It was such a treat for this Illinois to Tennessee transplant...

Speaking of Tennessee... you know what you're not likely to see here?

Blog Hop: Fall

It has rained like CRAZY here in Tennessee. I don't know about you, or where you are reading this from, but we have had rain for weeks!! I know it's making everyone crazy, but now that it's finally stopping and the weather has hit that point of beautiful fall, I have been very much enjoying the leaves and all of the beautiful colors that God has given us. Here are a few pictures of nature that I've taken lately (although it's hard to choose favorites!) I hope you enjoy them too =o)
A puddle of leaves
berries turning color in the grass
crazy mushrooms from all the rain
fall through a peephole
