#39 Go to a Cubs Game

In August, yes August, I got to go to a Cubs game with my friend Johnny and my new friend Cole (who I'm pretty sure I'd met before, but it had been years)! It was Johnny's birthday and I tagged along kind of last minute and no, the cubs didn't win, but it was AWESOME! Here are some memory photos... enjoy =o)

80. Have a photo I’ve taken that I love turned into a canvas for my wall.

Here is the original photo... I took it at Audubon Park in New Orleans when I was there for my birthday last year...
And here it is on canvas:
I was so excited when I opened up the box to see this 16x20 1.5 in thick gallery wrap canvas, and I don't think photos do it justice (mostly because the lighting in my house is odd)! But on top of the awesomeness that is the canvas is the awesomeness of the price! Thanks to Groupon I got it for $25!!! That included shipping! Sa-weet!!! I still don't know where I'm going to hang it (this spot actually holds a different painting) but I thought for effect I needed to see it up somewhere =o) AND on top of all of that, I have several people wanting to use this photo to make their own canvas which just feels like such a huge compliment... yay! I'm lovin' this memory of a fun birthday trip =o)

37. Start a photography blog.

I hadn't considered it so, but I have had several people mention that I've completed this task on my 101 in 1001 list. I guess when I wrote that on the list I didn't picture that being my 365 Blog. But I suppose on some level its true. The 365 Blog really is a photography blog. So, I'm sure much to the happiness of list makers like myself, it's checked off the list!

Plus, and I hope you are too, but I'm really enjoying the daily photo blog! It's been really fun! Did you know my friend Rachel is also doing a 365 blog? You should check it out. We were talking the other day about how much fun it is to take these photos everyday even when they're silly (like all of the photos of my tomato plants!). So, who knows what will happen. I'm only 53 days in, and I have a feeling it will last longer than 365...

54. Get my personal e-mail inbox to 0.

I'm not going to lie... My inbox has been between 4 to 10 messages for the last month in an attempt to complete #54. I don't know how long this will last, but I'm enjoying the ease of organization... =o)

13. Actually take up coworker offers of ‘letting me practice my photography’ using their children

Check! Kristi and I plotted just a little bit and made plans to take some photos of her with her kids and her boyfriend Mike's son. It was an awesome little trick to surprise him for his birthday! Here are a few of my favorites from that day..

#59: Have an Adventure

Rachel and I like to take drives. It's fun, it's cheap and since we both like to play photographer, it's fun to see what kind of sights your camera can catch. This day started out like any other I had off of work. I tried to sleep in (I'm never very successful at that) and then kind of bummed around the house when Rachel called to tell me she was off work. We had thought about swimming, but decided that taking a drive sounded fun.

So we drove. We started around Bell Buckle and ended up driving towards Shelbyville. After we drove through the square, we kept on going. Towards Tullahoma or so we thought. We ended up deciding to take a random left to go to the Normandy Dam when we saw a sign for a Distillery.

Did anyone know there was a whiskey besides Jack Daniels that was distilled in Tennessee?

There is. George A Dickel. It's technically in Tullahoma although it's a half of a block from Normandy and most places list their address as Normandy. There are a grand total of 28 employees who work there (so huge. ha!). Rachel and I happened to get there right as the last tour of the day was starting... yup, they do tours... and it was free, so off we went on a tour with a couple from Georgia to learn about George A Dickel's Tennessee Sippin' Whisky from a self proclaimed redneck who liked to crack jokes at herself.

We learned some things and now have silly quotes added to our repertoire; all in all, it was a very fun adventure.

#50. Complete a 365 day photo challenge.

Okay, so I haven't completed it yet... but I have started it! On my birthday, I started taking a photo a day in hopes that I will catch something on film every day for my 30th year. Do you want to see my progress??

Well, do you??

Ok... you can!!! I've started an extra special blog just for the occasion. It's called 365 Pieces of Me and you can find it right HERE!!

So, what are you waiting for?? There's already 8 whole days for you to go and see!!

#51

51. Find a CD that I love and actually buy the disc, not just the iTunes copy.

I blogged about Addison Road’s song ‘What Do I know of Holy’ last September. About how much I loved the lyrics… So this weekend, when I was at Hastings, I decided to go ahead and buy the CD. Addison Road’s self titled first album!

I’m enjoying it quite a bit, and I think I might just go ahead and buy their second album Stories, which will be released tomorrow!

Don’t worry, I won’t go too crazy with this CD buying thing… HA!

The Beginning of #99

99. Buy a cheap but awesome piece of wooden furniture and refinish it.

Meet the new coffee table.

Nope, it doesn't have a name... Rachel picked it up for me at a yardsale this morning for $5!!! I had seen it on my way to work yesterday and I just thought it was awesome and in very good shape, there are some black painted looking spots and a few scratches... I think it will be very fun to refinish!! Not too shabby, just loved.

Switching a Number

On my list of 101 in 1001, number 100 is: Watch all of the LOST season’s in order after they’re all out on DVD.

I’m not doing it. I’m replacing #100!! You see, I put watching LOST on my list because I usually love JJ Abrams TV shows and movies and such; however, I can’t stand his cliff hanger season finales that make you wait 9 months to see how they turn out! I suffered through it once with ALIAS, but I just couldn’t bring myself to suffer through it again. So I chose to abstain from watching LOST. Even though several of my friends watching it regularly and I occasionally ended up sitting with a roommate or two while they caught up on episodes, I just never let myself get too caught up in it.

And now I’m glad I didn’t. I know everyone is torn as to whether the series finale was good or bad, but most people that I know (who have similar taste to me) were just annoyed by the ending. His not tying up endings and ‘leaving it like life’ so not everything has an answer. My theory is that if people wanted things to be like real life, they wouldn’t watch a TV show, they’d just go out and live. And where In the world is there a random smoke monster?

I just don’t get it. And now I never will! After a couple of weeks of hemming and hawing, I am changing #100 from watch all of the LOST season’s in order after they’re all out on DVD to something else entirely. Are you ready for the unveiling of the new 100????

*imaginary drum roll please*

100. Go to a Civil War Re-enactment

I’m oddly excited about this… Rachel’s brother does re-enactments (as a Yankee… haha!) and I’ve found out that there is one not too very far from where I live… So here’s to the Civil War re-enactors of the world… I look forward to seeing some of you in action very soon =o)

#60. Go to the Aquarium in Chattanooga

I went!! And it was better than I thought it would be! The funny thing is, I put going to the Aquarium on my list knowing that I’m not generally that excited about going to them. And there’s no way I thought it would top the Aquarium in Gatlinburg (which is AMAZING). So, I set myself up for a bit of a disappointment and was very happily surprised when I really enjoyed it… and enjoyed it enough to really want to go back sometime (maybe to help R-Jo steal a penguin!). Needless to say, I brought my camera, so naturally, I’m going to share some photos with you!

(I'm just a fan of how these turned out!)

*hums JAWS theme while simultaneously singing Barracuda by Heart*

Butterfly Gardens are one of my favorite things.

R-Jo wants to steal one *sshhhhh....*

My FAVORITE thing to photograph!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jellyfish. They always look like they're doing some form of modern dance in the water. It makes my heart happy.

#48 a.k.a. My Grandpa K.'s Craft

I’ve mentioned my Grandpa K before. Not just in my blog about my 101 in 1001, but also when I told you about my Grandma K. I don’t really remember off the top of my head what my grandpa did before he retired (although I’m sure I’ve asked before). What I do remember, is that after he retired, he painted. And he baked. And sometime after he passed away, my family got the Joy of Cooking book that he used to cook. And then when I moved, I moved it with me!

So, I’ve had this cookbook in my possession for a little over 5 years and not once have I cooked anything from it which is why, on my list of 101, #48 was to make one of my Grandpa K’s bread recipes. He just made the best breads and now that I've tried that, I want to make one of the pie recipes. I can only hope to make a pumpkin pie as good as Grandpa's!! But one thing at a time, and the other day it was bread! Take a look at the process and my results!

My roommates have recently moved out, so the first thing I did was unpack some of my cooking things starting with my nesting bowls! I just love using this for baking!
Next is the Joy of Cooking book opened to the page for the French Bread recipe. Can you see all the fingerprints and bits still left all over the pages? *sigh* dreamy...
Ok, so the first step was actually scalding the milk? I had never done that before, so I actually looked up what in the world that meant and then I was so nervous that I was going to burn it, I didn't take a picture =o( But then you let the milk cool to 85 degrees, and that was less stressful, so here it goes!
While it was cooling, I started to activate the yeast with some warm water in another cup. I had to let it sit like that for 10 minutes!!
While waiting to mik all the liquid together, I mixed the flour salt and sugar together, then made a hole for the liquids to pour into... It always makes me thing of building sand castles...

mix it up!!(see that little pile of flour? I'm really proud of myself because that's the only flour I spilled the whole time I was making this bread!)
Then you have to let them raise and shape them into loafs and slice them a little with some scissors! Then they have to raise AGAIN! You have to have patience to make this bread...
Cook it for a while and 'voila'! Looks good doesn't it? My friends (aka guinea pigs) thought it was!
